The Weathering Depot

I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. Please check out my work here on my page. My price varies as to how much weathering is requested. I will also for an extra labor and parts charge change out couplers and wheels. My fees and hours are on the "contact me" tab.

And two more projects for eBay…

While working on the C&NW open hopper, I pulled these two cars out of one train box to weather up for eBay. These two B&O 60’ auto parts boxcars are Walther’s cars, purchased many moons ago while at Caboose Hobbies.

The cars had the roofs previously weathered by myself, and a bit of fading via a wash on the one car. What I did to these cars was to add a further wash to the other car to kind of tone down the royal blue color. I then dirtied up the door areas a bit. Both cars had their undersides done in what I again call texture weathering. The brake wheels were rusted up next. Wheels were also touched up and resealed. A light dirt overspray was applied to the frame sills. Finally, the old ACI plate decals were replaced with the thin brass ones from Atlas. After a final seal on the cars, they were ready for eBay.
