I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. This new acquisition is now finished and in service on the layout. I used washes on this guy, several colors of acrylic paints on the underside plus several pigment colors for the built up grime, and used three different rust mediums on the roof to achieve this effect. The darker areas between the panel ribs was done with a sharpened No 2 pencil. Finally, as shown, ACI plates were added. Amazing what can be done with an older Athearn blue box kit!
