The Weathering Depot

I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. Please check out my work here on my page. My price varies as to how much weathering is requested. I will also for an extra labor and parts charge change out couplers and wheels. My fees and hours are on the "contact me" tab.

Finished and in service….!

Just received this rare HO scale Sullivan Scrap gondola I have been looking for my Sullivan scrap yard. It was a pretty quick job in between these other projects to weather this one up.

The car’s interior bay was done with a product called U-Rust and three different rust pigments, then followed up with an application of engine oil and grime.

The car’s exterior was over sprayed with Vallejo black-grey acrylic, followed by a very light cost of Vallejo rust, with a light spray of Vallejo light grey along the bottom sill and ends of the car.

The Holyoke MA lettering was masked off and patched out using grimy black acrylic. The trucks and wheels were finished off with rust and medium brown acrylics. Below are photos out of the box, progress, and finished car in service!
