So, another day on the railroad as we start out in the early morning getting ready to work the inbound cars the local has brought out from Riverside yard. Today’s crew is Fred as engineer, myself as brakeman, Jimmy as conductor, and Dan as flagman.
First thing of course is firing up our usual locomotive #8806, then we’re going to pull out onto the main and couple up to the EL reefer headed to Stephen’s Grocery:

Shoving the reefer down the siding we’re going to couple to the empty Burlington reefer, then we’re pulling it over to the team track out of the way so we can spot that EL car:

Next, we pull back out onto the main to grab the L&N boxcar that’s headed for Armitage Furniture and spot it:

Next, we clear up as the local backs down into the siding at Sullivan scrap and pulls the two scrap gons out and replaces them with the C&O gondola:

As the local’s crew is doing this, we’re coupling up to the Burlington reefer to pull it out onto the main, then shoving it onto the back of the local that’s just coupled up to the two scrap gons:

Our work done for now, we tie down 8806 and head for our crew shack and await the next work:
