I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. I’m currently on the last car for this current friend/client, a local modeler who models current day operations in California. This CSX hopper started out as shown below and was asked to be heavily weathered but with all the lettering and numbers visible. To do this I’ve simply taped it off to show it as being patched. Here is progress so far. I need to rework a few rust spots on the car ends, do the roof and other side still. I’ll post finished photos when completed:
