The Weathering Depot

I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. Please check out my work here on my page. My price varies as to how much weathering is requested. I will also for an extra labor and parts charge change out couplers and wheels. My fees and hours are on the "contact me" tab.

Next project up….

Next project about 2/3rd of the way finished. This is a Tangent 52’6” 70 ton gondola lettered for B&O. I’ll have patched areas where the lettering will go, plus lube stencils and ACI plates. The car was faded first with an acrylic, then rust acrylic sprayed inside the gon, underside was painted with a grimy black/dirt combination, then brown wash applied with dirt and black plus grey powder applied over top while still wet. The sides and ends of the car was then painted over with Vallejo rust texture, then dabbed with MIG Ammo track rust while still wet, with a bit of the lettering uncovered. Trucks will be painted with roof brown then dusted with powder with wheels and axles painted in Tamiya NATO brown. New scrap material finishes this off:
