The Weathering Depot

I’m almost finished with this Walther’s 50’ ACF boxcar lettered for Apalachicola Northern. I decided to make this a former AN car, now TASD 9118 which I had a photo of shown here, as well as the AN car new in box:

I achieved the dirty orange color with rust and brown washes that had been diluted, then a final wash of diluted orange rust acrylic paint. I think the faded old herald with the ghost lettering turned out well as shown here:

Next up was painting the bottom as shown below:

Next came all the rust work and spots done with rust texture covered with rust powder. Finally today came work on the roof using the same rust texture covered with two different colors of rust powders. Photos below of how the car looks as of now:

Next up after this seal coat dries is to patch the car for the new lettering and lube stencil, dirty the car ends up a bit more, and paint and weather the trucks and wheels. Last steps will be adding the new decals and final seal coat.
