I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. I’ve just completed another project, this one an Athearn Genesis “primed for grime” Golden West Service boxcar. This guy took about a week to complete.
The car has the usual underside weathering plus several layers of weathering on the sides and ends. I used washes, powders, acrylic paint, and rust texture on this model. Photos below:
