The Weathering Depot

I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. Please check out my work here on my page. My price varies as to how much weathering is requested. I will also for an extra labor and parts charge change out couplers and wheels. Weeds and more weeds….!

As I’m unfortunately taking a break temporarily from weathering with my airbrush parts worn out, I decided to weather two sidings on the layout.

Starting with the team track, I took some Vallejo light gray acrylic paint and drybrushed the gray on random ties. I followed this up with some dark earth pigments by MiG Ammo in spots on the siding followed up with some fresh engine oil applied with Monroe Models soot dabbed on while wet to give that greasy oily look. To this I’ve added some weed tufts by Martin Welberg in between the rails. Still a work in progress so I’ll have more when finished!
