The Weathering Depot

I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. Please check out my work here on my page. My price varies as to how much weathering is requested. I will also for an extra labor and parts charge change out couplers and wheels. My fees and hours are on the "contact me" tab.

Progress….

So progress today on the current project! Faded the entire car with Vallejo pale blue acrylic, followed by faded white over the logo plus car numbers on the sides. This white area was then lightly brushed with off white Pan Pastels to blend it in a bit.

Next up came taking a micro brush dipped in water and wiping away at the chipping medium applied under the pale blue coat to simulate the peeling paint areas on the prototype. Then came a bout of rust texture by Vallejo on some of the lettering followed by a dab of rust powder by Monroe models.

Finally, the same treatment was done on the brake wheel, brake chain, and end platforms. Photos below of the process today. Tomorrow starts all the fun with adding all the rust spots and streaks after masking off the rust red areas where the new Kyle markings go:
