We switch out the local…

Our crew is back to work this morning switching out the inbound cars the local left for us. Today’s crew is Fred as engineer, myself as brakeman, and Jimmy as conductor.

After grabbing breakfast and coffee at the diner we head over to fire up old 8806. Our first order of business is to pull the road caboose off the local’s cut and stash it out of the way on the team track:

Next order of business is we pull out onto the main to grab the N&W reefer, then shove it onto the caboose, then shove both down to couple up to the empty PRR boxcar at the dock:

Of course I’m on the ground all through this throwing switches and other assorted tasks. Next Fred pulls the entire cut off the team track, then shoves the cut down onto the empty UP reefer at Stephen’s:

He then pulls this entire cut back onto and down the team track to clear, then I cut off the inbound N&W reefer so we can spot it at Stephen’s:

Next move is to pull back out to the main and couple up to the Gulf gasoline tank car, uncouple it, then we pull it in the clear down the lead:

In the meantime, in coordination with the local’s crew, they shove the two scrap gons down the main and into Sullivan scrap:

They then pull the Cotton Belt boxcar into the clear as we pull out onto the main shoving the Gulf tank car into McGraw fuel and oil:

It’s a busy work day as next Fred pulls back out and we couple up the Cotton Belt boxcar and head back to Armitage Furniture where we spot it:

Finally, we pull the outbound cars off the team track along with the road caboose and tack everything onto GP7 5628 so it can head back to Riverside yard:

That finishes up our work for this trick as we head back over to our yard office to sign off. Stay tuned as next we switch out Monsanto….
