The Weathering Depot

I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. Please check out my work here on my page. My price varies as to how much weathering is requested. I will also for an extra labor and parts charge change out couplers and wheels. My fees and hours are on the "contact me" tab.

More on modifying the current layout….

In this post I’ll talk about what it took to modify the two modules on the current layout. The longest module is part of the previous Nitro, West Virginia module where tracks went into the chemical plant, scrapyard, and bakery. The shortest module was on the other side of the old layout that connected the long Dickinson yard modules to the original 4×8. To fit this one in the space, I simply turned it 90 degrees.

The above photo shows the short module with the original roadbed cork laid down. I tried to remove this bit we must have glued it down and stapled it to last 100 years! The old roadbed was covered up with part weeds, part gravel. The track behind in the back is now the oil and fuel dealer while the tracks in front are now where the grocery distributor sits and team track.

Modifying the original scrapyard, first rendition

The above photo shows the first rendition of the scrapyard that has really been modified to its current look below:

And this overall view:

That’s all for today. In part two I’ll cover more of the modifications and details added….
