The Weathering Depot

I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. Please check out my work here on my page. My price varies as to how much weathering is requested. I will also for an extra labor and parts charge change out couplers and wheels. My fees and hours are on the "contact me" tab.

New project….

Onward to the next project. This one is an MDC gondola that started out bright yellow lettered for Illinois Terminal. This car already has three different weathering mediums applied, plus I’ve changed out the trucks and wheels, replacing the wheels with Intermountain semi scale wheels. Below are several photos of the project in progress. Still to do: patch out the car data and lube stencils and apply new decals. I’ll post finished photos when completed….

The above photos were taken before I applied another layer of rust texture by Vallejo. Inside the gondola bed is a rust wash, rust acrylic paint, rust texture, and two pigment powders by MIG AMMO. I’ll also apply ACI plates by BLMA.
