The Weathering Depot

I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. Please check out my work here on my page. My price varies as to how much weathering is requested. I will also for an extra labor and parts charge change out couplers and wheels. My fees and hours are on the "contact me" tab.

Another project finished…

Another project car for my fleet is now finished. This is a Walther’s Mainline series car purchased at the last train show here in my area.

I wanted to weather this but this time only lightly, enough to show some road dirt and some use but not overly done. I think I succeeded! The car was done with several layers of brown washes on the car sides and ends followed by an oil wash done with a very small brush down the sides of the ribs, followed after sealing with a lead pencil to highlight the bolt detail. The roof was sprayed with a light dirt application followed by light streaks of pan pastels. The underside was done as usual with acrylic paints followed by a wash and while still wet dabbed with powders to simulate a dirt build up. Below are photos of the car out of the box and the completed car:
