Another car finished….

The P&LE boxcar is now finished as well. This car was done by first spraying a light coat of green that matched the car to lighten the car a bit and take away some of the shine this Athearn car had out of the box.

The next step was several brown color washes to dirty up the car. The underside was done with my texture weathering I’ve discussed before. A light black grey spray was done along the bottom sill of the car.

The roof was done with a very light spray of rust paint with more rust paint dabbed on with a tiny sponge. The bottom of the car ends were finished with a brown wash with dirt and black powders dabbed on while the wash was still wet. This same technique was done around and on the car doors. Finally, the trucks were done with roof brown paint while the wheels were hand painted with rust paint. Hand painted only because the only feature I dislike about these Genesis cars are the bearing caps that are attached to the axles. These come off of course when you attempt to take the wheels off and are a pain to reattach them…if you can find them again when they roll away sometimes! Photos of the finished car below which will go on eBay soon….
