The Weathering Depot

I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. Please check out my work here on my page. My price varies as to how much weathering is requested. I will also for an extra labor and parts charge change out couplers and wheels. My fees and hours are on the "contact me" tab.

More weathering….

A bit more weathering done on the module the last few days. Not only did I paint and weather the first set of four tanks posted previously, but I also finally covered up the fake brown plastic base they sit on.

What I did was paint the base with white glue, then applied dirt from Scenic Express over the entire base. I then sprinkled more dirt over this when the glue dried the first layer, then went over the second layer of dirt with scenic cement. Photo below of how it turned out:

The original set of four tanks was up next. These had remained as the plain white tanks they were out of the Walther’s box, so it was time to weather these.

I first lightly sprayed the tanks with Vallejo rust paint, then took a stiff bristle brush and dabbed on Vallejo rust texture. When this dried I went up the tanks starting from the bottom with a brown wash to dirty them up more and to highlight the panel lines. I think these also turned out pretty well!

Next up when I have some more free time in between weathering I’m going to work on dirtying up the scrapyard. Stay tuned!
