The Weathering Depot

I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. Please check out my work here on my page. My price varies as to how much weathering is requested. I will also for an extra labor and parts charge change out couplers and wheels. My fees and hours are on the "contact me" tab.

The old standby…..

This blog post I’ll talk about my old standby locomotive, PC #5628. This model was my first locomotive when building my past layout, and is an older Atlas model with a Kato drive. The locomotive was purchased with DCC and sound.

Of course this guy was in solid black when purchased from the now closed Caboose Hobbies. As everything I own is weathered to some degree, the next step was getting this weathered. As I recall, three different mediums were used on this locomotive, acrylic paint, rust texture, and powder.

I really liked the way the weathering turned out on this one, as it looks like the dirty, hard working engines on the Penn Central. To finish this up, I added ACI plates, and maintenance base decals, for this guy Buckeye yard in Columbus, Ohio.

Finally, this locomotive was my best running engine, it had the weight to it and ran like a tank. Because of this, this locomotive was the one I kept to run on my display/switching layout. Photo below:
