The Weathering Depot

I have been weathering mainly HO Scale model trains since 2009 for fellow modelers and family. I specialize in freight cars, especially rust buckets. I do anything from light to heavy weathering using a variety of different mediums, sometimes three or four on a single car. I take care with models, therefore a model may take me a week plus. Please check out my work here on my page. My price varies as to how much weathering is requested. I will also for an extra labor and parts charge change out couplers and wheels. Current project….

One of my current projects is reworking this BN covered hopper. I’ve had this car for awhile so don’t recall the manufacturer. The car only had a light weathering as shown below while on my eBay store:

I decided to take it off eBay temporarily to rework the weathering on the car. In doing some reference I found that a short line (initials NOKL), had some ex-BN hoppers, however not the same type. I decided to freelance a bit on this guy so it will become an NOKL owned car.

So far I’ve patched areas where new decals are going, plus dirtied up one side, plus texture weathered the underside. Here’s the results as of today:

I’ll start on the other side and ends today. The wheel sets and trucks are already finished. When completed the car will go back on my eBay store. Stay tuned for updates!
