What I Do…..

So here I’ll explain what I do with weathering. For those followers of my previous WordPress website on my Penn Central Hitop model railroad, you already have seen my layout and weathered equipment. For those of you who didn’t get a chance to see my previous website, I invite you to check the March 2016 issue of Model Railroader magazine, and the first digital edition of the PCRRHS modeling magazine for a more detailed look at my layout and weathering!

I mainly weather HO and HOn3 models, both rolling stock and locomotives. I like to do rust buckets, old worn out beat up rolling stock, but will do anything from very light weathering to rusted wrecks. I prefer to weather diesels but obviously with narrow gauge I also will weather steam locomotives. You’ll see quite a few examples in my website.

What I charge depends on the amount of time and materials I need to complete a model. Previous models have as many as 4 layers of weathering applied. I will charge more for couplers being changed out and/or wheel sets. I prefer to use Kadee #148 whisker couplers and I prefer to use higher end metal semi/scale wheels. Of course the more masking, decal work, patches, etc will add to the cost. HOWEVER, I do not charge an arm or a leg for your model, nor your first born! But, my time and careful handling of your models is important to me, and is reflected in your cost. If you’re looking for a highly weathered model that usually takes me 1-2 weeks to finish for $15, then please look elsewhere.

Finally, I have done work for modelers all over the country, and prefer to ship all models by Priority Mail at your cost. I will however if requested also ship UPS or FedEx, but have found USPS Priority Mail to be an excellent shipping method, also trackable. I like yo get models back into your hands as quickly as possible as well!

I have been weathering models for friends, customers, and family since 2009, so if you want that one of a kind custom weathered model, please contact me. My contact information is also listed here on the website. Several examples are below. Hope to hear from you!
